3. KOBUCHIZAWA

We took the Asuza super express from Shinjuku (Tokyo) to Kobuchizawa, which formed the base for our side trips to sights around this region.

We met our linedance friends, Tell and Chieko who live closeby.

Summer is the time of o-bon festivals and fireworks in Japan and we saw the Ichikawa Daimon Shinmei fireworks.

We went to the Fuji National Flower Park to admire the begonias and the owls. (Thanks to a tip from Irene and Harry who have been to this park).

The IchikawaDaimon Shinmei fireworks - one of the largest in the region, with fireworks manufacturers in competition.

The Fuji National Flower Park has a fantastic display of begonias and fuchsias as well as many species of owls.

The Shiraito Taki (White-threads waterfalls) is another scenic spot within this region of the western foothills of Mount Fuji.
